BEng Civil Engineering

The BEng Civil Engineering course covers broad-based civil engineering subjects to equip students with knowledge and skills to plan, design and implement major civil engineering projects.

The course focuses on civil and structural engineering and design, ground and water engineering, construction and management, and project management. HKCE adopts interactive teaching focusing on practical applications, teamwork, and case studies which enable the students to apply what they learn.

The course is scheduled weekday evenings and weekends, which fit the working schedules of the students.


    • BTEC Level 5 HND in Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering), or
    • Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering/ Associate Degree, or
    • Any equivalent academic qualification


    • IELTS Level 6 scores 5.5 or above in each part, or equivalent (Holders of BTEC HND are exempted)

     *Admission is subject to the final decision of the university


Both course work and exam should be completed accordingly:

Coursework: 40% & Exam: 60%, or

Coursework: 50% & Exam: 50%, or

Coursework: 100%

Passing score is 40 or above (subject to each module)

Lecturer Qualification

  • The academic qualifications and teaching experiences of all lecturers are reviewed and approved by the academic board of UWS and HKCE’s principal Ir. Dr. Peter Kwan.
  • All qualified lecturers are bachelor degree holders with professional qualifications (e.g. Certified Engineer CEng, RPE or Registered Surveyor) or master degree holders with 10 to 30 years of work experience in the field.


Completion of 11 modules (240 credit hours) with course works and exams passed to obtain the certificate (BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering) issued by UWS.
